Make that sale! Enthusiasm is what goes into every sale you make!
So many analysts and economic forecasters are scrambling to publish their interpretation of how to reach the generations, Z and Millennials, with their product offerings. What's going to reach those generations of buyers is what still reaches the generations for the past hundreds of years. Enthusiasm!
Enthusiasm is what goes into every sale you make. Quoting Zig Ziglar again, he points out that the word enthusiasm is made up of the word "enthus," meaning "in God," and "iasm," which he says stands for "I am sold myself." Enthusiasm is simply to be in a relationship with God and being sold on the product(s) we sell everyday!
Without getting too far into a religious discussion, I like to quote the priest on the movie, Rudy, who said that in all the years of [study] he has come upon two facts: There is a God and I'm not Him." As for me, I'm just happy to be forgiven and have a home in heaven.
Being sold yourself on the product makes you more confident about what you're selling and able to describe what it has done for you since you've been using the product or service. Salespeople who sell products they've never personally use for whatever reason are at a distinct disadvantage and have to generate their enthusiasm from another source before they face off with their prospective customers.
Make that sale! Overcoming call reluctance is what goes into every sale you make.
- The fear of rejection
- The fear of the telephone
- The fear of messing up the presentation
- The fear of missing out on a sale due to procrastination
The above fears, and many others, create what we in the sales profession call, call reluctance. When salespeople are afraid to call somebody they think or know who might need their product or service, they are reluctant in calling out of fear most times.
Personally speaking, when the needs for increasing income come directly from sales I produce, such as rent, car payments, utilities, gas, food and other bills, I will either run out and make more calls or hide and wish they'd all go away! What is that really saying about me as a salesperson?
Make that sale! Believing in yourself is what goes into every sale you make!
Having confidence in yourself as a professional salesperson, believing in you as the best representative of the product or service you provide must be what goes into every sale you make or you won't sell anything! If you don't sell anything, it will directly affect your bottom line and move you further away from keeping your "head above water," but it affects so many more people as well.
As Zig says in his presentation above, many people have to be brought into full production in order to provide for the next person down the line before they get to the salesperson. Did you count how many? I didn't either. Literally, hundreds of thousands of people are affected when you make that sale. Millions of people are dependent upon salespeople doing their jobs every day.
Let that last statement above sink in. Millions of people, if not billions, are affected either positively or negatively when a salesperson either makes the sale or doesn't make the sale. We can be proud and hold our heads up high when we look into the mirrors in the morning and tell ourselves we are sales people!
Now go out and make that sale!
